Are people always saying you’re just too sensitive?

Being emotionally sensitive can often be a strength, allowing you to experience life in ways others can’t. However, this sensitivity can also leave you vulnerable to feelings of sadness, fear and resentment that can get the best of you and hurt relationships.

Using cognitive behavioural therapy, you can learn skills to help you stay in the present moment, identify triggers, develop a solid identity, and experience intense emotions without becoming upset.

Managing your emotions is critical for living well. Sometimes it’s difficult to appreciate the positives of emotional sensitivity because experiencing emotions so intensely can be painful and often lead to difficult situations. Paying attention to and understanding your emotional response patterns and how they affect your life may be uncomfortable, but it will help you know what you need to do to manage your emotions and creating a sense of well-being.
